There are so many drum kits out there, sometimes you feel like you run into the same recycled sounds. You go buy a kit with "producers name here" expecting to get something that sounds remotely close their sound. But in the end, you just end up with a 13895th TR 909 library.
Our friends at The Producers Choice have taken notice, and the kits they deliver are well under par (that's a good thing in golf, work with me).The latest kit from Andrew Lloyd (Lil' Wayne, Tech N9ne, T-Pain) is another option to have in your arsenal. Checking in at just over 120 combined 808s, kicks, snares, claps, effects, hats and loops this kit has something for everyone.
The back bone of this kit is the kicks and 808s. Checking in at just over 25 samples, you'll find yourself making some serious neck breakers. Just about all of the kicks and shorter 808s have a great thump. They come through my BX8s hard, and some almost scare the bah-jeebus outta me. While there are a couple kicks with a bit more space to them, I am sure they will compliment your tracks nicely. The longer 808s on the other hand aren't awful either, but nothing ground breaking. Just like most drawn out 808s they resonate for a while, but I wish they were all at least already tuned to "C."
The snare and clap section of this kit are just above average. All of the claps are well layered and have a nice zip to them. None of these samples have that annoying like "half cut off" chop. These are all full and you get the entire experience. Most of the snares in this kit are dry so adding your own reverbs and delays will be no sweat. There are a few snares in here that do in fact have a reverb on them, but it's much ado about nothing. The effects were used brilliantly on these snares (middle snare in particular).home page:
