"Reissue with the latest remastering. Features original cover artwork. Comes with a descripton in Japanese. A brilliant 80s set from Pharoah Sanders - a record that has him a much more understated setting than some of his other albums from the time - but one that's maybe even more soulful and searching overall! The great one plays blistering tenor right from the start - in a quartet with John Hicks on piano, Curtis Lundy on bass, and Idris Muhammad on drums - all players who have this way of doing a lot with a little, especially in the rhythm department - where they seem to give Sanders some of his strongest sense of groove since the key albums for Theresa. Muhammad's got this tight sense of timekeeping, but with a looseness that we love - and Lundy's warm soulful bass does more than enough to give the set a sound bottom - and Hicks' free lyrical piano works nicely with Sanders' spiritual horn. Titles include a remake of "You've Got To Have Freedom", plus "Africa", "Duo", "Heart To Heart", and "After The Morning"."

"Features the high-fidelity SHM-CD format (compatible with standard CD player) and 24 bit remastering. Early Blue Note work from the legendary Bobbi Humphrey - a session cut before she hooked up with producer Larry Mizell, but one that's still got a righteously soulful vibe! The arrangements here are by Wade Marcus, but he still has the great idea of giving Bobbi a bit more expanded sound in the background - a full mix of sounds that lets her flute step out in the lead and find its own soulful space on the solos - all with a wonderful style that definitely marks Humphrey as one of the freshest jazz flute talents in years! The other players are all pretty hip too - and include Lee Morgan on trumpet and Billy Harper on tenor - who'd both played with Bobbi on one of Lee's late Blue Note dates - and titles include a version of Eddie Harris' "Set Us Free", plus "Sad Bag", "Don't Knock My Funk", "Journey To Morocco", and "Ain't No Sunshine"."

Jazz / Avant-Garde Jazz / Saxophone

"Reissue and remastered. Comes with new liner notes. Available only for a limited period of time until March 20, 2015. This four-part suite is actually a film soundtrack to the debut feature by Conrad Rooks, though it was never used as such. Recorded in 1965, it was performed by the Ornette Coleman Trio with Charles Moffett on drums and David Izenson on bass; augmenting the session were Pharoah Sanders on tenor and a large studio orchestra arranged by Joseph Tekula. What is most notable is the kind of control Coleman has over the orchestra. His trio is playing by intuition, which was normal for them, but they open to accommodate the more formal constructs of a band who knows little about improvisation and how it works in the free jazz context."

In Tokyo, three women take us through the realm of fuzoku; the world of erotic entertainment in Japan. Yuna is an aspiring actress in hard-core films, Nao engages clients in hard-chats and Miho is a well-known striptease artist. We learn about their dreams, we follow them at work and during their free time, in host clubs where they drink and find escorts, and in nightclubs where shibari, the art of sadomasochistic binding, is practiced.

"One More from the Road (Styled as "One More For From The Road") is a live album by Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. It marked the band's first live album, and the only live album from the "classic" era of the band (1970-1977) prior to the plane crash that killed lead singer/songwriter Ronnie Van Zant, as well as band members Steve Gaines and Cassie Gaines. The album was released in September 1976. It was certified Gold on 10/26/1976, Platinum on 12/30/1976 and 3x Platinum on 7/21/1987 by the RIAA. The original 14 tracks include a cover of Jimmie Rodgers' "T for Texas" and an 13:30 version of "Free Bird". The first CD release (1986) was a single disc missing two tracks. T For Texas and Travellin' Man. The second CD release (1996) was a two disc set with all 14 songs plus 3 Bonus Tracks. Sweet Home Alabama, Gimme Back My Bullets and Simple Man. The two disc set put the tracks in order of the appearance of the original concert."

"A fantastic record from vibist David Friedman - spare, hip, modern, and very moody! Friedman's playing vibes and marimba alongside David Samuels, who plays the same - and this twin-vibes approach sounds fantastic - especially as the record has no drums, just additional bass, plus flute by Hubert Laws - a very loose, open style that comes across with a completely unique sound! The approach is super-dope for any fan of laidback 70s vibes - and the tracks are never too free or way out, just gliding with this airy quality that's really wonderful - one of the best demonstrations of Friedman's great talents on record. Titles include "Truce", "Nyack", "Brite Piece", "Island", and "Saraband"."

"While Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke left Free for Swan Song/Atlantic's Bad Company, their ex-bandmate, the late Paul Kossoff, put together another group on Atlantic which sounded like...you guessed it...Bad Company. Terry Wilson-Slesser could easily be mistaken for Rodgers on so much of this album, be it the song "Jason Blue" or "It's a Long Way to the Top." This material is terrific sleeper stuff for the '70s hard rock genre, before Foreigner made that whole world much slicker..."

Jazz / Fusion

"Reissue with DSD remastering. Comes with liner notes. Here we have the free-floating, abstract beginnings of Weather Report, which would define the state of the electronic jazz/rock art from its first note almost to its last. Their first album is a direct extension of the Miles Davis In a Silent Way/Bitches Brew period, more fluid in sound and more volatile in interplay. Joe Zawinul ruminates in a delicate, liquid manner on Rhodes electric piano; at this early stage, he used a ring modulator to create weird synthesizer-like effects."

"Dark and moody work from Keith Jarrett - a record that builds strongly off his ensemble feeling of the Impulse years, but which also seems to carry a bit more of the introspective vibe he was building up in some of his more stripped down solo recordings! The group's still a great one here - with Dewey Redman on reeds, Charlie Haden on bass, Paul Motian on drums, and Guilhermo Franco on percussion - and the tunes, although long and somewhat free, still show Jarrett's great ear for a lyrical melody - carried off wonderfully without cliche, and still with more sharp edges than you might expect. Titles include "Rotation", "Everything That Lives Laments", "Flame", and "Mysteries"."

"Reissue. Features the high-fidelity SHM-CD format (compatible with standard CD player) and the latest 24bit 192kHz remastering. A brilliant album that would forever change the way the organ was used in jazz! The set's the greatest contribution ever from organist Larry Young - a lean and modal session recorded with help from a young quartet that includes Woody Shaw, Joe Henderson, and Elvin Jones - all leaping and loping with Larry's free-thinking work on the Hammond - stretching things out into spiritual grooves that belie Young's fascination with Coltrane's sound of the time, and his freer fusion work of later years!"

"The 1973 debut from a band who became cult figures on the blues-rock scene, mainly because there was a real crunch to the music. Greg Lake (of Emerson, Lake and Palmer) signed them to the bands Manticore label, and he produced three of the tracks on this album. Walden was a spectacular Hendrix-influenced guitarist who managed to pull a unique, watery sound out of his instrument (recall he was picked to replace Paul Kossoff in Free). There's hardly a song here that doesn't showcase a first-rate Walden lead. He also had a surprisingly enjoyable voice."

"Reissue. Features the high-fidelity SHM-CD format (compatible with standard CD player) and the latest 24bit 192kHz remastering. Coming fresh on the heels of his groundbreaking work with Eric Dolphy, Bobby Hutcherson's debut album is a masterpiece of "new thing" avant-garde jazz, not really free but way beyond standard hard bop. Dialogue boasts an all-star lineup of hot young post-boppers -- trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, woodwind player Sam Rivers, pianist Andrew Hill, bassist Richard Davis, and drummer Joe Chambers -- and a set of imaginative compositions by either Hill or Chambers that frequently push the ensemble into uncharted territory."
